This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
I got a great +size riding apparel catalogue a few years ago.... they do exist. My trouble has been english hunt boots that aren't built for stick legged people with no calf. They make ones with wider tops.
Who is that? Do they have a website?
On the way home from calling hours,(girl I work with, father had passed away) I saw that some old friends of mine were having a garage sale. These people are old trail riding buddies of mine. I knew they had sold their horses, but it was so sad to see all their horse and camping items for sale. A lot of really good memories with them. He has a bad back, and they just didn't ride anymore.
Hi Tuffy, Miss Targets, Beck, Hair and all;
I am back from town and will try to post some pictures.
For me, it's complicated. But here goes.
This is her wire cut.
I found this in my clothing search. I may have to have it if it's ever off backorder.

Holy Moly!!!
this is after using the AluSpray at night --- this is what it looked like the next morning.
Oh dear. that is a nasty wire cut. I've seen one like it on a friend's horse, and it took so long to really close up. Thanks for sharing it. It looks ugly, but it doesn't look angry, swollen or infected, good job.
This is the swollen lymph gland and then you can see it seems to have affected her throat ---those two little loopy things between the plates of her jaws. The veet says to just let it heal itself. It's a virus. But it is worrisome.
A ride is always good for the soul, even in our good shoes and pants.
And now for something more cheerful. A rainbow and telephone lines. This is from the storm we had a few days ago.
OK - Did this happen before the wire cut? or is she fighting that since the wire cut?
My big sunflowers in the sprinkler
Here's poor darlin' Melody coming to greet me in the corral when I come to feed and treat her cut. Poor baby. Swollen lymph glands, wire cuts...she gets a lot of petting and carrots. I don't have a big enough rocking chair.
When I get back from a long trip to town (I always take the border collie Berkeley) Berk and Sam Cat are always glad to see one another again.
A new kitty bed for Sam from the big trip to town. He's a Viking Kitty and has zotted many a troll. He's in love with his new bed. Also keeps cat hair and dirt off my good coverlet. That's all, folks!
I hope you all don't mind, if I post here a polite plea for the troop support project for my other thread, the Hobbit Hole. We're hoping to grow to meet a demand that has been increasing... I'm going to start including this at the bottom of my forum posts, but I don't want to spam it continuously in here... (just once so you all know about it) Click the link to find out more about what we do.
Please support our Hobbit Hole Pocket knives for the troops project.
She had the swollen lymph glands first --- took her to the vet clinic in Hondo about 50 miles away --- they tested --- not cnacer, then brought her home; a week in the medical ward (corral) then let her out to pasture to stretch her legs and she comes up with the wire cut.
Boyoboy.
