This thread is dedicated to the men and women in our country's armed forces defending our freedoms and land. Thank you for your service.

NASCAR's premier division has charged past the halfway point, and there's 8 races left until The Chase begins in earnest. Now they head to the heart of New England, where they and the drivers of the Busch series will take on the tight 1-mile track at Loudon. The Busch drivers will go on Saturday for 200 miles, and the Cup drivers will take 300 laps on Sunday.

For those of you in the FRFL, you have until 5 am EDT Saturday to make your picks because this is an impound race.

Thanks for the ping & running this weeks thread.

Can any one tell me what happened to Jamie McMurrey last Sunday? I do know he finished poorly.

McMurray just didn't have a strong car all weekend last week.

Harvick really pulled a bonehead move last week.

With 30 to go he came in because he thought he had a flat tire. After he got tars and back in the pack at 33rd (from 4th) they radioed him that there was nothing wrong with your old tires. He ended up 19th instead of a top 5 finish. To add insult, there was a caution with 26 laps to go.

Wonder what the conversation was like in the pits after that race?

Congrats on the anniversary!

As for Harvick, I couldn't criticize the decision. Crashing sucks. I would rather finish 19th than wrecked.

RE: Free Republic Fantasy Race League

In the Yahoo! 2005 Fantasy Auto Racing Season Guide that is made available to participants, this track is spelled "New Hampshite Int'l Speeday."

I am no fan of Harvick's, but I agree -- he did the right thing. Just like JJ did.

"New Hampshite Int'l Speeday."

That only applied before they repaved it. It's a decent enough track, but I still like Dover better.

That's pretty much normal since Dodge took Penske out of the Ford camp a couple years back. Those 9 teams (5 owned by Roush, 2 by Yates, the Wood Brothers and the team formerly known as The Other Sadler's) all use the same engine from the combined Roush-Yates engine program. Further, when Pontiac pulled out, all of the teams still using them (Gibbs, MBV/MB2, Morgan-McClure, PPI) went to Chevy.

I guess it's a combination of having the oldest car (yeah, they're now "aero-matched", but the Taurus was aged before they began the aero-matching in earnest) and the oldest engine (though the Roush-Yates crew did manage to get new heads that brought the Ford engine up to Chevy power standards) that drove almost all the other teams away from Ford over the years.

Well, 8 times out of 10, when a driver feels a tire going down, it's going down. With the way that the Badyears were failing at Chicago, I can't blame Happy (wait, yes I can; I had him last week :-)
