I think you were on the side of "it's not worth getting that worked up over it". ;-)

It did take me awhile to adjust to characters I'd pictured in my mind years before being shown differently - even if they were well portrayed. Kinda like how you can get really used to one artists interpretation of a song, and then hear a new one. Even though it may actually be *better* than the one you're used to...it takes a bit to get past that initial "but that isn't how it is!" reaction.
