I avoid 'events' like the plague. I'm too introverted to have any fun at all. I prefer casual gatherings.

I don't care for the common assumption that casual equates to boorish. And I don't think being an ettiquite-nazi is the epitome of class. This hasn't been stated in so many words on the wedding thread, but they're coming close.

I've only been to two weddings/receptions. Neither was a *whole* lot of fun, but at least at my brother's wedding, I could hang out with Dad who is at least as uncomfortable in crowds as I am. The whole ordeal was hard on him...the travel, the meeting new people, the accepting favors from strangers...just really hard.

He even danced once. He and I. ;-) It was so sweet. *sniff*

I think it was right after that when I ended up momentarily in the rest room bawling 'cause it was the first really momentous occasion since Mom's death and I knew we were all aware of that.

She would sooo have loved my brother's wife, though. And her whole family for that matter - they're really an awesome group, and that made it all much easier.

Pointless reminiscing...but nice. ;-)

Yes, you said it right. Go say it there!
