The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Let them go! Let them go!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

you gotta retinal scan on yer gunvault, dontcha?...Nope, just a big honkin' high-security padlock with a Medeco key that resides in the bedside vault with the electronic touch-lock, right next to the Smith. You can buy gun vaults with fingerprint readers, though. Just a bit too pricey for me.
And I'm glad to hear the knife went to a good home. Let me know when you need more.

My head is bowed, my eyes cast down; my escutcheon is besmirched; a bar sinister gules will be blazoned upon my arms; my descendants will add the phrase "au Spammant" to their names unto the twelfth generation; I shall be named Keeper of the Potted Meat, and my deeds thus far stricken from the Chronicle (or, if they be too well-famed, attributed to Sir Alain de Smithee); such other entails of dishonor can be thought on, will attach.
For I have spammed most horribly in the sight of my brethren (and sistren, and down in the cistern too), such as is not to be borne.

And herewith, my redemption. Once again, I stand tall among the Men of Gondor and Dwarves and
those that must not be named and Hobbits and fruitbats and breakfast cereals and orangoutans and...

Ted, our new best friend at our Total Wine store told me about the wines from Chile. He said they're a good bargain because of the exchange rate. I paid $6.99 for this bottle. He said the same quality wine from California would be twice that.
Of course this is just for medicinal purposes.

We had a white a week or so ago that was from Chile, I believe. South America, in any case. Not at all bad.
The Australian and New Zealand wines are also good bargains. It's one reason why I like 'em. I rarely pay above six or seven dollars for a bottle, if that.
What winery is your merlot from? If it's good, maybe we should check for it next time we hit the good wine store...I've kinda been on a merlot kick lately.

I'm enjoying a nice Chilean Merlot... Imagine the coincidence. I'm sitting here enjoying a nice Bay Area Marzen with my Tennesee bourbon. :-)
