The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Let them go! Let them go!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I'm hitting a landmark number next year.Rose was 31 when she and I met.

Most important is that she's old enough at 8 to grasp the somewhat complex combination of position and cues to communicate with the horse, and understand the feedback she gets. At six, it's too much. At 8, she's much more coordinated.

Hiya!
Rose is fine, she's busy re-reading the latest in the J.D. Robb "In Death" series, "Origin in Death".
It came out yesterday, we picked it up on our way home from work, and she read it last night.
So she's re-reading it now.

Yup. I know you're right. That's exactly why I'd love for her to start her lessons now if she really wants to do it.
I imagine it'll be MUCH easier for her than it will be for me. :-D
I'll be sure to take pictures!

Whoa! That good, huh? I've seen J.D. Robb's work everywhere, but haven't picked it up. I'll check it out.
The 2nd to last book in one my favorite romance novel series just came out. I'm waiting patiently for it to show up at the used book store.
I have another book on its way from an e-Bay purchase that should keep me busy until then.

It's her favorite series... a blending of police procedural, romance, and science fiction. The first book in the series is "Naked in Death", then "Glory in Death".

Robb is Nora Roberts, right?
I like Nora Roberts' books, even though she pumps them suckers out every 3 months it seems. You could never catch up and read them all! :-)

Yep, that's her. There's 22 books and 2 short stories in the "In Death" series alone.
She's a writin' fool.

According to Rose, the woman has a home office; she goes in at 9 am every morning and spends eight hours there, just writing.

Now THAT'S discipline.
Speaking of work, I'd better get to bed if I hope to be in any shape for my job in the morning.
See everyone tomorow!

Not only discipline, but focus. I have a hard time not getting distracted when I attempt to write, especially on the computer.
You see, there's this nifty little web community called Free Republic... ;-)
Good night, Ruthy!

Stories like yours (and hair and ecurbh's!) give me a lot of hope. And truthfully...though I've kind of been in "hope I meet someone very soon" mode since I was 18 or so, I don't think I was ready when some others were. Some of my younger siblings are far, far more mature than I was at their ages.
I'd like to think I'm ready now, though. And bein' patient is hard. But it's not like we can really force things to happen...

I know you're having to be patient on that, and with the job situation as well. But, just remember how fast events came together to get you moved out to Colorado.
Maybe He thinks you need a little breather after that. ;)

Sticklebats and other assorted not happy words...
I was almost finished, BUT, the hardware for the cabinets isn't going to work. I need to replace it. But worse, the shelf I bought for over the terlet doesn't fit.
It's one of them free standing ones that fits over the back of the tank. I was a bit concerned that the towel rack was going to be in the way. That wasn't a problem, but...
Since all the terlets in our house are the higher models, and have the elongated seats, the shelf fits over the tank...but you can't get the lid up.
I'm gonna have to measure and figure out mounting shelves on the wall. It may not happen tomorrow night. But I'm at least taking the other stuff back...and I'm taking it back assembled...as is...
So, I just came downstairs to gripe, and to pack lunch for tomorrow.
g'nite.
