I will! He's gained a digit! It'll be 90 years before he gains another one.
It's the Spirit of Aggieland..
Well it's a good lesson in government for the kids involved... See kids, whenever we people get together and form groups, we start out having pretty good ideas, but in the end, we end up making everything worse. The more of us there are involved, the bigger the potential for screwing it up.
LOL!!
You know, it is a good lesson and something Celeste said to me is still ringing in my ears. "BA CHEF is not a democracy. The leadership [she and the president] made the decision and that's the end of it." That's exactly what she said to me.
It is a good lesson in what exactly a coup d'tat is.
I hope they set up safeguards to prevent this in the future...I mean, you can't prevent someone from splitting off and forming a new group, but you should be able to prevent them from taking the money with them.
Yeah, that kinda does add another layer of ugliness.
Yep...we're talking about $5000 in just this year's membership dues, not including the balance in the bank from what was left over from times before.
The money from those who remain BA CHEF need to have the money returned, and those who joined the new group need to get a full refund ~ so that they can pay the dues for the new group. Otherwise, it's gonna be a long, bumpy ride folks.
It's an awful situation and as hurtful as the whole situation is, the money situation just compounds it. Big CHEF trusted BA CHEF to collect it's dues for them...$24 per person, when they collected their own dues...$10 per person.
Now this new group has control over all the money and they say they'll refund as needed...and I believe them, but the point is, when they left BA CHEF, they should have left the money behind and requested refunds from the new leadership, whomever that might be.
They shouldn't have control over that money anymore.
ugh! This is really bad. They cannot take that money legally, unless the whole group follows them.
Knowing it is not a democracy doesn't matter, BUT it would have been wise to at least it discuss on forum. You know, get some market research of sorts to see if it's even feasible before acting on impulse. It may not need to be completely democratic, but the members should have a voice, whether it is in theform of a vote, or a survey. Never assume too much.
Have the best day you can, 2J.... We're off now, for a trail ride.
Yep...that's the whole crux of the problem. They thought it would be a smooth transition and had no idea the uproar it would cause.
There were 30 people at the meeting yesterday, a spur of the moment meeting on Saturday with THIRTY people at it? How many people would have showed if there had been a bit of planning!? People in leadership with the old BA CHEF were there, people who were obviously ready to step into leadership.
See ya later, Hair. It doesn't help that I seem to have picked up what Jen and Corin were suffering from...
~urp~
You've got pinkeye?
This scenario is part of the reason I searched long and hard for a group that doesn't require dues. I will eventually join PEACH, but it isn't local enough for me. PEACH is in Plano, I am in Allen. What I have right now is CCFlying Dillos. It is for the whole county, and is very loosely organized. It is what we make it.
If I want to do co-op, whch I may next year, then I will have to join PEACH or AHSOM, which is in McKinney.
You said something about your church having a homeschool support group. Is this the same group that split?
No, it's a totally different group.
Celeste is in the leadership with it as well. ugh.
The new support group took the BA-CHEF co-op with them apparently, but have graciously decided to let those who want to stay with BA CHEF join in with them.
I'd tell 'em to blow it right out their shorts if I was participating.
Heh heh!
No, I feel all gastronomically icky...if that is the proper medical terminology. LOL
How can they do that?
Ginger.
