The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Let them go! Let them go!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

No and the kind we got was pressure-treated...it still looks great. The panels worked great for where it was flat. That top picture was done board by board because of the contour of the land.
It was comparable, cost-wise.

Yeah, that's it...Border collie.
We used galvanized wood screws and drilled pilot holes into the posts, then screwed the panels on.

Yeah, we have one of those post levels. It was a Christmas present.
We just measured, and would probably need 4 sections.

Get this, the scummy neighbor's kid...a couple years younger than Joshua, would climb up on TOP of that chainlink fence and hold on to the top of our panel fence and screech at me "KEEEE-UUUUUMMM! KEEEE-UUUUMMMM!!"
Used to drive me bonkers.
They moved...now we have the people that have really fixed the house up nice...really nice. They have a dog grooming business and ever now and then she must shampoo a dog or something and the scent hits the air and fills the whole block with a nice sweet clean smell...LOL!! Instant air freshener!

It's a hideous lot... It was better before they logged every tree off of it. I didn't used to be able to see the neighbor's trailer... or their trash.

LOL! I know, but that's all I can figure it is! If I have my windows open it makes the whole house smell great!
She grooms poodles and such. But you would hardly know...no traffic, no people parking in my yard! They're great neighbors.

No, no...the pans I'm using now are those oven-safe plastic pans my Hungryman dinners came in...I washed 'em and am reusing them. I took the foil off when I microwaved them and replaced it with plastic.
Gee willikers, it's hot outside.

Thirty bucks a panel isn't bad... We haven't measured, but I bet we'd need 4 to cover it.This is even cheaper:
