The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

You, like me, have only one cat.

That's not juggling. That's cheap entertainment. :-)

Maybe Gidget and Homer could play catch with him.

It'd be more fun at the beach. Toss the cat in the water and watch the dogs decide whether it was worth it to go out and get the cat.

I can almost see gidget working out the math in her mind. "Hmmm... must... retreive... but must... watch... cat... drown... "

Gidget doesn't like the cat. One day the cat my find out that Gidget also, can draw blood.

No question in my mind how it'd go.

g'mornin

Kilt a spider in the kitchen this mornin'. Not a recluse.

Still, come Monday I'm callin' an exterminator.

I'll proudly take blame. Artifical trees have *many* advantages.

We already had an artificial tree. I'm blaming you for making me want a new one. ;-)

We went blackberry picking this morning (I hauled Big'ol along) at the Menonite farm. I have a big bucket full. Think I'll make a blackberry cobbler this evening.

And I have more zucchini from the garden than I can shake a stick at. We had a storm come through the other evening that tipped my tomater trellis over. It shook a bunch of green tomaters loose. Think I'll make fried green tomaters tonite, too. :) But the good news is that the plum tomaters are ripening up nicely.

I say it loudly ... and it public.

It always makes me feel so naughty.

In the ongoing saga with the naybers and the runoff from our yard, I've decided to entirely redo the side garden. I'd contemplated it anyway since I need to move the iris.

I'm gonna have them build up the berm some on the upper side. Then I'm gonna figger out how to basically build a dry stream bed that I can gravel in. That way it will look more landscaped than ditchlike...

It kinda works since there's not really a pattern to the plantings I have in there. I'll get to work on it oncet we get back from thebeach.
