New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |

Still round the corner there may wait |

Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Ain't seen it, don't plan to.
Good evening...
There is no
place I know
that compares
to pure imagination
Living there
You'll be free
If you truly wish to be.
I'm a Wilder-Wonka fan. The songs are the very best part, IMVHO. I have most of them memorized even with years between viewings.
There has to be a definitive element of cheese-factor to any classic film. Wilder's version has got that in grand supply. :-D
Hey there, Ramius. :-D
Great job, Ramius... I'll add something like that to my standard email response, and will also include it when I update the site this weekend.
It's classic. And.... perfect. :-)
Pure imagination.
The songs.... the oompa loompas... all the kid characters are great.
She was a bad egg.
I know that bad egg...
Dear [their name],
I will pass your request along to our 'armorer' who will get in touch with you. While we cannot necessarily promise a specific knife or an engraving, as it depends on our current stock and funds on hand, we do our best to send something to everyone who requests.
On behalf of our group, thank you for your service to our country. We believe in your mission and we believe in you, our soldier. We are merely a little group of Americans doing what we think might help you. We hope this gift helps you do your work in some way. We will be praying for your safety.
Sincerely,
[my name]
PS: We hope to be able to provide a knife for any soldier that needs one, free of charge. You can help us provide more knives for your fellow war fighters by encouraging anyone you know to donate to our cause, in whatever amount they like. We are not a charity. We are not even a nonprofit organization. We are just a group of friends that started buying knives for some soldiers, and it has grown beyond our expectations into a very popular and obviously useful program. Please feel free to contact us with any comment or question at: http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net.
What surprises me is that Jen loves The Princess Bride which is pure Cheese-Luver-Bliss-on-a-Stick, but isn't a fan of Wilder's Wonka because of the cheese.
You gotta love the cheese, baby! It ain't memorable if it ain't got cheese.
It's like the cowbell, doncha see? ;-D
Oh, and here is the website one of the soldiers mentioned in his email: http://chadbenson.blogspot.com/
Nice.
It's good ecurbh! :~D
Bliss-on-a-stick?
Bwaaahahahahha... love that.
[Jim, describing how everyone wanted to duel him when he was The Waco Kid]
Jim: Then one day I hear "Reach for it, mister." I spun around, and there I was standing face to face with a six year old kid. Well, I just laid down my guns and walked away. Little bastard shot me in the ass. So I limped to the nearest saloon, crawled inside a whiskey bottle, and I've been there ever since.
Needs more cowbell.
