The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

But you can still see the mountain.

65 is about the perfect temperature, in my opinion.

Unfortunately, it's 100 here. I went out to the library and practically melted on the way to and from the car each time.

But it's a dry heat, right?

The noodling video.

What post is the accidental trail riding video on, and is it "too sick!"?

*sigh*

As I believe we've discussed before, so is the heat in an oven.

At some point, it's just hot, no matter how you look at it.

Poor Isabelle! And she's one who's still laying, isn't she?

I'm making more seitan. Heh...when you first mix the gluten and water, it looks rather like brains. Kewl.

I have been reliably informed by my children, who are actually older than some members of the thread, that "too sick" means "way cool," with an element of outrage added. ;-) In the case of the noodling video, it actually seems a little sick as well.

You can view it at post #2188, where Bear in Rosebear placed it for our edification. It's worth a look just for the weirdness quotient.

I'll check back to the accidental trail ride as soon as I get to a computer that has a viewer enabled. See you soon.

I'm so sorry to hear about the chickens.

Especially Roy.

Right. She's still laying.

I'm off! Hitting the thrift stores!

Hope there's a big bidding war for my sprouter! About 2 hours and counting!

Thanks, Ruthy...I feel bad for Matthew...this is his first loss of any kind, except for his grandfather that he didn't really know and was too young to understand when he died.

He's just kinda down.

No doubt.

And I know that you must feel heartbroken too, sis.

Those chickens grow on you, whether you want them to or not. Especially someone as tender-hearted as you are.

BTW, that trail ride video isn't too bad.

I enjoyed watching it.

It's just funny.... with the camera dangling from my wrist.... It's enough to make ya seasick!

As easy as it is to take video, I should take a few short videos when we ride. It shows a lot more of what it's like to have movement and sound!

Do you think Bay would mind being fitted with a horsecam?
