The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Let them go! Let them go!
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I can't say for sure... but I think it must be pretty dang close.
At least I hope so... ;-)
Any more and I would have been mentally levatating objects in the room to throw at the surgeon. :-P

When you get to a pain that causes you to hope and pray for a nice, deep faint and yet - it never happens.
Yeah, that's pain.

Not much. Just watching BRAT CAMP on ABC.
Show follows a dozen troubled teens through a tough camping program in the Oregon wilderness.

I can't say that I can describe it, or compare it to anything else, but I've never felt anything even in the same universe before.
There were some funny moments, though... At one point I'm squeezing new fingergrips in the armrests, and I can't breathe... and the nurse starts pleading my case to the surgeon: "Um, doctor... that's really hurting him now..."
He says "I know."
I actually laughed at that. It seemed to help. Maybe they do that on purpose. :-)
To: Ramius
I think they might just do that on purpose.
Any distraction is welcome during stressful moments like that.
I'm certain the doc did what he had to do, but didn't enjoy watching your distress at all.
I hope!

Actually... there's not enough money in the world to get me to do what he does. I can't imagine cutting on people for a living. The nasty stuff they have to deal with on a daily basis... no thank you ma'am.
Hell, I don't even like listening to the whining when I'm cutting on their computers...
To: Ramius
LOL!
It does take a bit of intestinal fortitude to be a surgeon. Any kind of surgeon.

Hey! I've been there... but they didn't have a light show back then. I used to fly through Detroit Metro fairly often, back in the early 90's. Haven't since... I dunno when. Mid-90s I guess.

Hey there, glad you enjoyed your trip. Was wondering if you'd seen "Fantastic Four" yet, and if you had what you thought of it.
