I can see it already... husbands will not be allowed in birthing rooms anymore due to "liability" issues. I wish all these lawyers would go to @#$#.

No, they'll just make them sign waivers.

Why blame the lawyers? Blame the family of the victim who seek to blame the hospital for an unforeseeable accident.

I believe judges
have the power to throw out
cases if they choose . . .

Well, they'll at least have to sign a new fine-print form allowing the hospital no liability if they faint from the sight of blood and knock themselves out...

I lose all sympathy for someone who suffers from a tragic event when they try to take advantage of a technicality to put some kind of monetary liability on someone. Her husband is dead because he was a pu$$y. That isn't the hospital's fault. I hope the lady goes bankrupt.

You are right. The dad took his chance. Life is full of risks. I was present for the birth of all my children, and those were the most important and memorable moments of my life. It will be a real shame, if lawyers and lawsuit lotteries stop the practice of allowing fathers to be present for their childs first breath.

Well, there was a time when if a husband just had to be present at a birth, they did it at home with the help of a country doctor who made house calls. Then up until just a few short years ago, it wasn't the norm for husbands to be in the delivery room, nor was it absolutely necessary. I am sure this wasn't the first husband to faint at the sight of a birth, but he was probably one of the few to ever hit their head and die as a result of it. If this widow is awarded a huge settlement (which she probably will be), I can see that particular hospital's point if they do make the delivery room off limits to the daddys from then on. If someone visits my home, faints and hits their head on a table and is injured and then sues me for a million dollars for pain and suffering, I won't be likely to invite them back to my house any time soon (provided I didn't have to sell my house to pay off the lawsuit).
