Join us this weekend at tracks in the heartland of America.
God bless our troops and families and nation.
Keep your spirit up, young warriors, and Godspeed.
UP Close of the ChicagoMotorSpeedway
From a little higher up, I had to stand on tiptoes to get this pic
Speed must've not been used to covering qualifying live. Was it the usual Speed/Fox crew or the NBC/TNT one?
Groovy.
First practice for today scheduled in about 23 minutes on Trackpass.
Speed has Final Practice (HH) scheduled at 11am CST.
He's gonna get a lot of laughs out of that one. :~) hahahaha stop it!!
Wow great pics, I guess you don't have a fear of heights.
According to trackpass Smoke is in the car practicing now.
I honestly don't recall who was talking... I was watching the cars out of the side while freeping.
First practice so far after 1/2 hour:
Matt fastest
Rocket
MM
Happy
Shrub
SlowCasey
JJ
KK
Smoke!!
Mikey
Flipper
Biff
Go Smoke!
Happy Hour notes:
Smoke says he told Yeley to take the day off tomorrow he's running the race. (practiced 19th)
Biffle slightly tapped the wall with the right rear quarter panel, says car is not handling well at all after that. (he only dropped to 15th fastest after that though)That team always gets their act together.
DJ's car looked terrible, he and Sadler seem to be joined at the hip lately thus Sadler's car didn't look good in practice either 38th & 39th)
Some teams improved their first practice times a lot then lost the handle after the track got a lot of rubber down and hot (Jr)
Fastest
Shrub
MM
Rocket
Crash
SlowTruck
Flipper
Cheese On Wheels
Mikey
Kvapil
RR
Thanks. I'm thinking Happy instead of DJ for tomorrow.
Interesting report!
Guess I'll drop DJ for MM
Still conflicted about my C team: Shrub or Vickers? Hmmm?
Have a great day! I'll check in later tonight.
And here I am without him on the roster this week (no matter; Mr. Friday and Mr. Sunday didn't disappoint in qualifying :-)
The Busch race will probably tell us a lot about track conditions and tire wear today.
With 10 of the top 10 being Buschwhackers (although Edwards is running full-time) it should be good practice for them for tomorrow.
Make it 12 of 14 (Yeley's rolling off 4th, and the Cup-whacking Stremme rolls off 12th) and 16 of the top 20 (Front Row Joe and Jeff Green). There just isn't a lot of room for the Busch regulars.
I believe they still do. We live forty minutes north of Joliet, in a far-western suburb of Chicago. This has been "Race Week" with all the store promotions. Yesterday the #6 was out in front of a grocery store with the Kraft paint-scheme. They explained to us they are associate sponsors.
Yesterday I was in the area shown in the second pic, training dogs. At DesPlaines Conservation Area, just off of I-55.
Not going anywhere near there today or tomorrow. Too much traffic because of the race. We will be going north to train the dogs.
