"Vitamins to be Banned Worldwide...

Opinion by Consumer Advocate Tim Bolen

Monday, July 4th, 2005

"Big Pharma" won a major victory in Rome, Italy today. Vitamins and minerals, for over-the-counter sale will be phased out, almost completely, in every country on Planet Earth. The "German Model" of health care will now be the law of the land - in every land.

Below is a press release from Diane Miller JD of the National Health Freedom Coalition, detailing the action. Diane is in Rome at the meeting.

Press Release - National Health Freedom Coalition: Codex Full Commission adopts Codex Guidelines for Vitamin and Mineral Food Supplements in final form July 4, 2005, Rome Italy. by Diane Miller JD.

Minutes ago the full Commission of Codex Alimentarius adopted in final form, the Codex Guidelines for Vitamin and Mineral Food Supplements. This adoption is the Step 8 adoption, the final stage of adoption for the international Codex guidelines. The Codex Vitamin and Mineral Food Supplements guidelines are now official and no longer in draft form.

The Commission, attended by over 85 of the 171 Codex countries, adopted the guidelines by consensus method. There was brief discussion before adoption taking in comments from a small number of countries and two NGOs."

"Hello Jenny? Hello? You no stay around for more fun?

Sigh...

"I had a friend, her name was Jenny, but Jenny don't move no more""

Sure loser, I can take it. Dish it all out and more, I love to debate with ya'll.

I took my kids swimming out in the glorious sunshine and had a fun time flying kites at the park while you cocky fools drumming for the FDA played around with my web site, my name, and my host. ( what the heck is up with that? - going to see who hosts my site? going to try and pull it down or something?)

I don't know who you jokers are and I don't care. I just know that I have the guts to put my name on everything I do on the web, while you hide behind little freedom tags that mean absolutely nothing here at Free Republic.

I dont' have anything to hide, just want to make sure a subject worth debating gets debated, but you don't seem to want to debate, just personal attack and call it fun.

When your grandchildren are a bunch of drug mutant retards I'll be playing with my beautiful holistically birthed, gently breastfed, and naturally fed and non-drugged, beautifully nurtured grandchildren. Enjoy your future moron, you'll have to tie your grandchildren up with a straight jacket in order to "enjoy" grandparenting them.

Who said this thread is winding down. I took off for a few hours to have some fun with my family. I'm still here, and ready and willing to debate with ANYONE who has something worthwhile to say. You personal attack me? This is the last resort of mind numbed robots shilling for the status quo.

I want to debate, so get some proof, beyond snopes, beyond quackwatch....

Some proof that come August 1st we are not going to have a vitamin gestapo in America.

The Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB), is a vital Medical Doctor (MD) control point. It is the trade organization of all 50 State's Medical Boards. The FSMB is the organization that writes the policy manuals, and provides training for, Medical Board investigators and prosecutors all over the United States. The FSMB is the "Quackbuster" police agency.

The "Quackbusters" use the FSMB to persecute two groups (1) "Alternative Practitioners" within the MD ranks (they treat them like traitors), and (2) non-licensed alternative health professionals (they charge them with "practicing medicine without a license").

The "Quackbusters" through the FSMB, have been able to change the focus of prosecutions against "bad doctors." They define "bad doctors" as those that use alternative modalities - and maximum penalties are exacted. We have seen in California, that real "bad doctors," those that kill their patients, actually get off with a slap-on-the-hand by using the defense "but I prescribed a lot of drugs." State medical Boards are not serving the needs of "we the people," they are serving the needs of the "Quackbusters," and their paymasters.

Medical Board prosecutions are funded by the States - Barrett, and his slime artists, don't have to spend a dime... I couldn't even count the number of "alternative medicine" practitioners currently under persecution from mis-informed Medical Board investigators and prosecutors. The damage done to Americans from this attack is incalculable...

Personal attack

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
Generally, a personal attack is committed when a person substitutes abusive remarks for evidence when examining another person's claims or comments.

It is considered a personal attack when a person starts referencing a supposed flaw or weakness in an individual's personality, beliefs, lifestyle, convictions or principles, and use it as a debate tactic or as a means of AVOIDING DISCUSSION of the relevance or truthfulness of what the person said.

It works on the reasoning that, by discrediting the source of an argument, e.g. the person making it, the argument itself can be weakened.

"Some of the kookburgers are fun to watch, though. I imagine Jenny has a LOT of experience with "natural substances"

I used natural healing to restore my brain after the psyche meds I was forced to take ruined my health.

Now, what is your dope of choice Big B? Prozac, Zoloft? Viagra???

I prefer going au natural...

http://www.drugawareness.org/Archives/Miscellaneous/MRAfter.html

"My concern is that each new SSRI introduced seems to be a little stronger on serotonin reuptake and therefore potentially more dangerous. And the all too common practice of going from one SSRI to another blocks additional receptors and magnifies the harmful effects of these medications. It is crucial to learn that according to medical research the theory behind this group of drugs is invalid. Known as serotonin reuptake inhibitors. They are designed to block serotonin in the brain, thereby increasing brain levels of this neurotransmitter.

Yet for three decades researchers have been intensely interested in serotonin because LSD and PCP produce their psychedelic effects by mimicking serotonin. Elevated serotonin is found in: psychosis or schizophrenia, mood disorders, organic brain disease, mental retardation, autism and Alzheimer's. While low levels of the metabolism of serotonin (which also produces high serotonin), are found in those with: depression, anxiety, suicide, violence, arson, substance abuse, insomnia, violent nightmares, impulsive behavior, reckless driving, exhibitionism, hostility, argumentative behavior, etc.

The drugs increase serotonin and decrease the metabolism of serotonin leading to any and all of the above results. This information is extremely crucial for patients and physicians to learn as soon as possible. We have a high rate of use of these drugs nationwide. Raising serotonin and lowering the metabolism of serotonin in such a large number of people can produce very serious, widespread and long term problems for all of society.

So why are we now being told that increased serotonin is good for us? Is it because it is good for the pocketbooks of the manufacturers? One manufacturer is running full page newspaper and magazine ads and half hour TV infomercials to bring in over $7 million daily, while on the other hand they are settling Prozac suicide cases for huge amounts of money in exchange for silence from victim's families on the details of those settlements. The silence in the court cases insures that the drug will be allowed to finish out its patent time, thus bringing in the highest possible profits for the company. They know that with $7 million coming in daily, they can afford to settle a large number of lawsuits and still come out "smelling like a rose" financially."

I know, why don't we have Monsanto come up with a new cereal - you know mix prozac with wheaties. They could call it Proties, or Wheatzac, and then everyone in the world could just wake up and eat their Cereal and their anti-depressant for breakfast...and spend the rest of the day zoning out on our LSD high.....

up up and away.....

"Grow some thicker skin before you play with the grown-ups."

Uh, if you have not noticed, I am not one to post and run, as I said, I took my kids out for the day. And I am back and ready to debate with anyone who has something real to offer in terms of proof that we don't have a vitamin takeover about to happen.

It's not that the vitamins are going to be gone, it is that you are going to have to get a PRESCRIPTION in order to take them in high enough amounts to do any good. I rarely go to a doctor for anything, I sure as heck dont' want to go to a doctor in order to get my nutrients.

Jenny

PS Do you have anything of worth to share on this topic, or is this going to be about me??? Please see personal attack definition above...

Nothing to debate, Jen-Jen. This is a hoax, a myth. It ain't gonna happen. August 1st will come and go, and no prescription will be needed to buy vitamins. That's the whole story. I don't work for any pharmaceutical company, I don't take zoloft, prozac, viagra, or anythign iof the sort. Maybe we could discuss things, but YOU were the one who shouted that anyone who took issue with this silliness was working for some Pharma company or a shill for the FDA, didn't cha? Don't lie, cause everyone can see it. That's what you did.

"Maybe we could discuss things"

No, if you go back to the beginning and read the thread, I was being personally attacked within seconds of posting this thread.

You don't want to discuss, you just want to make fun and personal attack. You are just not used to having someone yell back...

Calling it silliness, hoax, myth and then dissing me is not debate. Nor is posting to snopes or quackwatch. They are both sites that have been set up as internet sources for those shilling for big pharma.

I would like to have an intelligent debate on what just took place in Rome.

If you have something intelligent to say beyond questioning my integrity, I would love to chat with you. If you don't, please go flame somebody else's thread.

You were one of the first to respond to this thread, only four minutes and you were on my case..... that has to be worth something to the pharmacuetical industry...

Not much, the american people are just too smart to use natural medicine. They love their dope. I just participated on a new york times chat that was discussing brooke and tom and 9 out of 10 people were cheering for brooke.

I was cheering for Tom if you had to guess..

I think it's a valid argument that as a society, we take maybe too many medications. And I agree with it.

If you're right about this--and I still don't think it's true--I'll come right back here and apologize, I promise.

Honestly, I don't want to debate this. Thanks for the offer. I did not intend to personally attack you, and I am sorry you felt that way.

I do, however, find these kinds of hysterics funny, mostly because I have seen them throughout my life and they tend to bring more pain and suffering to the hysterical than anyone else and they have never "come true." If that means I am a mind-numbed robot, well, call me R2D2. I tend to be unafraid of the "bogeymen" and don't see the devil behind every bush or even every Bush. Call me pollyannaish, as many have, but it has worked out quite well for me.

That being said, if it comes true and it is too late because I did not heed your warning, rest assured I will be here to apologize to you. Finally, I sincerely wish you the best of luck. You are going to need it.

Some proof that come August 1st we are not going to have a vitamin gestapo in America.

You insipid twit.

You and your like-minded conspiracy freaks want 'proof'?

No problem. Read it for yourself, right from the federal government itself:

Q - Why won't these Guidelines restrict U.S. consumers' access to vitamin and mineral supplements?

Some consumers mistakenly believe that if Codex should adopt guidelines on vitamin and mineral food supplements that are more restrictive than DSHEA, the U.S. would be required to automatically change its laws and regulations to comply with the international standard. Some consumers have expressed concerns that the World Trade Organization (WTO) and its trade dispute settlement panels may place pressure on the U.S. to change its laws because of international trade agreements such as the Agreement on the Application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPS Agreement), which references Codex as the international organization for food safety standards.

We see no basis for these concerns. First, the DSHEA covers a much broader range of dietary supplements than the vitamin and mineral supplements that are the subject of the Codex Guidelines. Moreover, for supplements covered by these Guidelines, we note the following:

The SPS Agreement does not require a country to adopt any international standard. Rather, the SPS Agreement provides that members may base their Sanitary and Phytosanitary measures either on international standards, guidelines or recommendations, where they exist, or may establish measures that result in a higher level of protection if there is a scientific justification, or if a country determines it to be appropriate in accord with provisions of the SPS Agreement (SPS Agreement, Article 3(1) and (3)).

WTO and WTO dispute panels do not have the power to change U.S. law. If a WTO decision in response to a dispute settlement panel is adverse to the U.S., only Congress and the Administration can decide whether to implement the panel recommendation, and, if so, how to implement it.

For dietary supplements, it is unlikely that another country will accuse the U.S. of imposing a trade barrier for the importation of supplement products into the U.S. marketplace because the U.S. laws and regulations are generally broader in scope and less restrictive than the international standard.

However, other countries with more restrictive laws and regulations for dietary supplement products than the U.S. may create trade barriers to the importation of products manufactured by the U.S. dietary supplement industry. Thus, the U.S. government's involvement in the setting of international standards can help minimize the potential of trade barriers to U.S products in international trade.

Further, there is no basis for the concern that the Codex Guidelines on Vitamin and Mineral Food Supplements would require dietary supplements be sold as prescription drugs in the United States. First, there is nothing in the Guidelines that suggests that supplements be sold as drugs requiring a prescription. Second, U.S. regulatory agencies are bound by the laws established by Congress, not by Codex standards. Third, because of our generally less restrictive standards, it is unlikely that the trade dispute would be brought against the U.S.

In summary, U.S. consumers' access to a broad array of dietary supplements under DSHEA would not be changed in any way by Codex's adoption of guidelines on vitamin and mineral food supplements.

----------------------------------------------------

Don't believe it? Here's the URL:

http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~dms/dscodex.html#restrict

That still isn't enough Jen-Jen?

Have I got a deal for you.

Since you seem to believe this conspiratorial horsesh*t about Vitamins being banned, made prescription drugs, whatever, I'll make a wager with you:

IF, by the end of this current year (December 31, 2005), there is a 'Vitamin Gestapo' in America (nice hyperbole by the way), I will personally pay you the sum of $1000.00 in U.S. currency, OR if you can't stand the thought of taking my hard earned cash, I will make an equivalent donation to the charitable organization of your choice. However in order for this wager to be valid, YOU must agree to reciprocate in the event that I am proven right (that all of this nonsense about Codex, DSHEA, Vitamins, etc., is nothing but paranoia), that YOU will pay ME the sum of $1000.00 in U.S. currency OR (should I so elect) make the equivalent donation to the charity or organization of MY choice (hint: Jim Robinson? Prepare for a cash infusion at the end of the year, LOL).

So there you have it baby, now spit them vitamins outta your mouth, put your MONEY where that mouth is, and we'll see how this all turns out in only 178 days.

Now if you have the courage of your conspiracy, err, convictions, you should be more than willing to step right up and take my money.

Or, you could slither away and STFU (S-ilence T-his F-oolish U-ndertaking).

[cue Foghorn Leghorn voice] Ah say, ah say, ahma WAITIN to heah yo response!
