Someone added "How is this news" to the keywords - well, this potential strike could cripple the SF Bay Area commuters.
The issues can be boiled down to health care costs and salary. The dispute is between management and its largest unions -- Service Employees International Union 790 and Amalgamated Transit Union 1555, which represent 2,300 of BART's 2,700 employees.
These are the most prominent sticking points among BART's contract issues:
HEALTH CARE
Current cost -- $25
Managment proposal -- $150
Union proposal $75
SALARIES
Union proposal -- Cost of Living increases over three years (between 2 and 4 percent)
Management proposal -- 0 percent for next two years, 2 percent increase the following two years
