Shelby Foote is a great author and writer who's main focus was the Civil War. He died on Monday and Cspan2 replayed a 3 hour interview from 2001 today.
Google him, he's also featured promenently on Ken Burns' The Civil War PBS series
Boy, is Scott Riggs gonna feel pretty foolish when he sees the video.
When they pit, they have to signal everybody else first?
Thats a novel Idea. I still say they should put a switch that lights up 2 blinking lights in the back. Drivers can work out what that means, but give an easy way for them to signal something to eachother.
I guess so....I just learned that. Jeff G. definitely waved. The car behind him saw it but what happened then, I don't know.
Lemond, no they do not have to by rules, but its a courtesy of the racing road that you signal other drivers if you know you are going to slow down or deviate for some reason.
Someone should invent turn signals...
Courtesy to help prevent them getting run over...Pit Road speed is 55 mph and they are doing 180-190 mph so it takes a little stretch to slow down
Typically, yeah: since they're in a high-speed lane, every car has to get from 200mph to 55 (or whatever the pit lane speed limit is) in about 1/5 of a mile. Since there's limited maneuvering room, you gotta signal to avoid... well, what you just saw.
Jr's rippin.
hope he can stay out of trouble...
a good finish would really be a welcome change
Hmmmm, seems like a yellow turn signal would be a good thing to put into the upper left corner of the back window...couple of button presses when you're going to the pits, I'll call up France and tell him to git right on it...
Welcome aboard!

and have fun doing it the whole time. :)
PS we have lots of expert opinion here and some chaff too, yours is to divine the difference. :-}
They don't have to signal, they do to try and prevent what just happened. Just like the freeway though, sometimes there are people not paying attention.
Cup holders.
chicks?
Only if McMurray says he waived. Flash was 2 in front.
You'd think McMurray waived, but if he didn't then its his fault..
Can the spotters hear what all the drivers are saying, or only their own guy?
Turn signals is what they need!! lol
JR up to 14 already?
Oooooh, I guess I got that wrong.
I always wished I'd seen the Ken Burns series.
Did Mr.Foote's books stack up against Newt's? (I haven't read Newt's but I think he has a magnificent mind.)
