KY on Fox???

Posted on 06/29/2005 8:26:17 AM PDT by Scarchin

Okay - I'm a teacher on vacation and watching Fox news.

It's 11:00 in the morning and an ad comes on for "KY massage and personal lubricant." The husband lights up when the wife says "personal lubricant" and she says it again at the end of the ad and winks. There is a clear sexual tone to the ad.

Is it me or is this out of bounds?

Anyone else see it?

I'm calling FOX and I'll post what happens.

so how do you explain the ads for sexual type aids now and not in our more innocent past? while there was no levitra/viagra/cialis. i don't think KY is a new invention.

It's perfectly possible for kids to miss the nature of the commercial. Not like screamed obscenities at all.

I was just thinking about that line of reasoning... So ~what~ if kids don't understand what KY jelly is for in an ad on Fox news? The show isn't geared for them. I'm sure they don't understand the intricacies of the stock market on Cavuto, either. The world isn't designed around kids. I think it's to their credit that they are as vague as they are, but really, it's OK for some stuff to just be for adults. I mean... if a 4 year old asks about the stock market do you stop and break out the charts and graphs? or do you say, "don't worry about it honey, it's for grownups"

standards/regulations = more government, afraid I'm not into that, especially when I chose to pay for what I am viewing.

Well yes your right, I'm not suffering. I think I was just stating that at times, advertisers make us THINK we need their product when we actually may be fine without it. That's all.

I don't think this particular advertisement is any worse than any other. I can't believe we sit and take all this advertising baloney in. Bottom line....if we stink, look ugly, are miserable, can't sleep, have unwanted hair etc., we need THEM. So they make us unhappy about ourselves on purpose.

There's a certain amount of that, I'll admit.

Course, there's a lot of uses for KY that aren't really medical ;~D

"The world isn't designed around kids."

Oh, I'm with you. It's foolish to try and child-proof the world. Moreover, it's unfair to adults to expect them to always conform to the standards of children.

Can't recall the brand but daughter and boy are sitting with mom and dad - daughter nervously takes a piece of the gum and it is some hot flavor - she attacks the boy while taking off her sweater - mom and dad watch then mom grabs the package of gum and does the same thing..... kind of gags ya to see mom and dad making out next to the girl and her boyfriend...... and I have a pretty high tolerance for crap on tv... ;^)

I dunno.. I haven't seen Days of our Lives in years :)~

but, I have seen "trojan man" commericals on the alphabet channels. I think those are a bit more risky than the ky ad.
