Easy, The Scorpions, Summer of 1985, Memorial coliseum,(Love at first Sting tour) Phoenix, AZ. Went with one of my best buds, we had tickets for the floor in front of the stage & lost each other the second we hit the gates, I squeeze my way thru the masses, to get to within SIX (6) bodies from the stage just as the opening act is booed off the stage, after what seemed like an entirety, I hear the opening to The ZOO, with its heavy bass line that draws you in to your own little secret place that no one else knows about. The throngs of individuals goes ballistic, and no longer am I a simple piece of driftwood in the waves, now Im pondering if I Flotsam or Jetsam??? I finally anchor my feet, just meters from the stage, and take up all tethers to hold my own against pulsing waves of fanatics crashing towards the stage. Below me is a young maiden, no more than 12 or 13 in age, at my feet; her eyes wide open looking up for some form of rescue, gasping for air & wanting no more of the human surf that surrounds her. I hold out my arms as she grabs my wrists and climbs to the to the top of me like a gull taking roost atop a light house. For the entire show (2 & ½ hours plus encores) I held my ground with this young lady on my shoulders. When the house lights finally came on, I gently lifted her from my frame, set her down, made sure she knew where she was and where she was going and turned to go find my best bud, who was standing behind us the entire time. As he tells it I only had to clock 3 idiots who got out of line with their pushing and shoving (he says he took care of the other 30) we both escorted this girl to the nearest information station and got her hooked up with her people again, before we departed for the safest port in a storm we knew (home). Been there, done that, STILL have the T-SHIRT!!!

I was quite young when I saw the Beatles... 7th grade I think. We had to drive for 2 hours to get there for the concert, and then because it was raining cats and dogs, they cancelled it. They came back several days later, and we made the drive again. My dad had a press pass, and camera, and didn't go on the field to take pictures. I don't think I ever forgave him. lol

Wow. What a great description. And I loved this line:
I hear the opening to The ZOO, with its heavy bass line that draws you in to your own little secret place that no one else knows about.

Well, it took me about 10 seconds to figure out that that (and I seen, participated, & been involved in alot) was the best show for me. That little girl would have never survived (or maybe she saved me by being my reason to maintain) in that environment. She was cute (and far too pure), no doubt, but to young for me, and I just couldnt through her back into that sea of abyss.
