1993: Hail fell to several inches deep in IN's NE Parke Country; drifts to several feet deep. A county highway department 4-wheel-drive truck had to be pulled out of a hail drift by another 4-wheel-drive. Dense forg formed over the hail-covered areas.
1997: Hail up to 2.75" broke windows/damaged rooofs in most of the 190 homes of Michigan, ND. Many dents in vehicles. The town's 2 implement dealers also suffered significant damage to their inventories. Total damage: $10 million.
Thunderstorms can be lethal even without floods, lightning or tornadoes or massive downbursts. In August 1994, 143 people died in Brazzavile, Congo. A large crowd attending a church service panicked at the onset of a cloudburst. The victims were trampled to death by the churchgoers stampede for shelter. Always have a towel handy. And above all, Don't panic.

My Dad's a retired weatherman and loves this stuff! Thanks and Keep it coming!
Hail drifts ... Geez!
It is supposed to be 85 today. It might be although it has taken all day to get there. There is smoke, so much that it is hard to see if there are clouds above.
Hurricane Audry killed 390 people but that is not the record. The 1900 Galveston storm killed 6000 and possibly as many as 10,000 people.
