Looking real good Safrguns!I hear you got BF2. Also heard it's not real fun offline. Your opinions so far? Thinking of sending the wife out after it. For those looking for a good game of Desert Combat, -)RR(- hosts a good game at 67.18.61.245:14568. Best time is around 5 pm PST. My team's website can be found at http://xxxteam.org/ and there is a window with info on who is playing on -)RR(-'s server.

Thanks!... yes, got BF2. Going to install it tonight, and see how it compares to DC... Look for my take on it sometime tomorrow. Box says that your video card has to be a 128mb min with either Nvidia GeForce FX 5700 or greater, or ATI Radeon 8500 or greater. System ram minimum is 512MB.

Battlefield 2 - Quoting from the box:
"Defeat the enemy online to rise through the ranks and unlock weapons and medals with the all-new persistent character scoring system"

Not sure I like the sound of this...
Normally, everything is available online for everyone. It's bad enough trying to learn by "getting owned" without the aces out there having an unfair weapon advantage.
More on this later.

BF 2: I had a real hard time learning the game navigation. connecting online seemed to be extremely sluggish at times. If the game fails to make a server connection, it leaves you hanging without any means of cancelling. However, It's just out of the box, much yet to learn. Once I finally got into some games, and got through the new-user jitters, things started looking a whole lot better. So far, I'd say this game ROCKS! If you liked BF1942 DC, you probably won't anymore after you start playing this version. They've added some very cool realism to the game. Driving vehicles is much better, SMOKE GRENADES!!!! and they work!... oh... and when you take damage, your vision starts blurring... its cool! Server options allow for global unlocks, so at least your not totally forced to become an ace before you can get the good weapons. I only have a 2-4 hours under my belt with this so far, but I would say it is definitely worth the buy.

BF2: This game has serious connection problems.
There seems to be no time-out mechanism or manual cancelling options which results in a hung game. The only way to get out is to alt-control-delete and end the game in taskmanager when you fail to connect to the account server or game servers. ***IF*** you are able to get into a server, and **IF** you are able to maintain a connection (slow loading by the way), the game is totally awesome... but connection failures are way too much of a pain. The last time this happened, even alt-control-delete wouldn't do it. I had to manually power down the computer. I'll keep my eye out for updates (none yet that I saw), but until then, I'm shelving it.
