Consider the alternative, Rebel. That's all I have to say.

I know. That's the sad part. Most Republicans voted for the guy because they didn't want the other guy to win either time.

G.W. can't do much about the Supreme Court's ruling

No. But he could use the bully pulpit and take a stand on the issue. For that matter, he could do the same with any conservative issue; publiv education -vs- homeschooling, government growth, abortion, etc. He could veto a pork-laden spending bill or pronounce his conservative stand for or against, well... anything. But, after five years, I won't hold my breath waiting for this dream scenario. We've been had.

Agreed.

Presidents are supposed to do what's best for the country, not act as a genie in a bottle granting individuals their "right" to three wishes.

Our presidential election process isn't perfect, but it's the best on this planet. For better or worse, Bush has his faults, but they're ones of certain policies, not character. The last individual who served for eight years had serious problems with both.

For example, I grant that Bush's apparent lackadaisical attitude towards illegal immigration has been frustrating, but look on the bright side as to how ordinary citizens got the attention of the Feds with the Minuteman Project.

So, I have my own level of frustration in how Bush addresses certain issues and how the GOP appears to be total wimps in the face of the mouth-foaming dimocrats. But he's a solid guy with a solid core. And sometimes it's best to completely ignore the mouth-foamers who especially thrive on getting attention.

Also, the game is a mix of politics and poker; you never show your opponent your hand. There may be strategies behind the scenes that we don't know about; not everything is as it may appear to be.

And one final note: personally, I'm always wary of someone who defensively feels the need to mention a characteristic of themselves. What's with the "I'm not a Democrat"? To me, that's on par with "I support the troops" or "I'm a patriot". There's something a little fishy about providing such information that may or may not be relevant. It reminds me of seminar callers into shows such as Limbaugh or Hannity.
