And meanwhile millions of other women heard her bizarre story and worried. What makes you think that?
I never watch Oprah and I haven't read Shields' book but I can certainly sympathize. I had a horrendous time after one of my pregnancies and that was just a "normal" bout of PPD. I can only imagine what a nightmare psychosis would be. I was not told by my ob/gyn or in prenatal classes that I might be at risk for a serious bout of depression so I was caught completely off guard. Over the last few years I have discussed ppd with many other moms--most of them were never told anything more than "You may experience some blue moods in the weeks following childbirth." There is too much potential danger, not to mention needless suffering, in not telling women ALL that they may experience.

"Plus to my knowledge, Cruise doesn't go around bashing Bush, the WOT, or the country that makes him rich."
I could be wrong, it's happened a time or two, but didn't Cruisingforboys once say that the United States "scares" him?

"And Brooke Shields did no one a favor when she detailed how she wanted to kill her newborn child and throw herself out a window. Women should not be told this is a real and possible outcome of childbirth which is exactly what she and Oprah would have women believe."
Brooke Shields did every potential sufferer of PPD a huge favor by admitting to her personal struggle. Every woman, husband, and physician should know that homicidal and suicidal ideation are a real and possible outcome of childbirth so that when a woman tells her husband that she's thinking of harming herself or their baby he will take her straight to a physician instead of handing her a Flintstones chewable.
It's dangerous to insinuate that PPD is nothing more than a character flaw.

Well, actually, they are on to something. Demon possession.

Exactly.
Cruise wouldn't accept that argument from Lauer though. He says,
"There is no such thing as a chemical imbalance,"
-which is just stupid.

Hey, he's an arrogant idiot that attempts to brainwash people into his paranoid alien cult.
But other than that, he's a great guy!

I heard on the news today that Tom has a new Press Person. His old Press Person didn't want him to talk about Scientology (I wonder why!!!) and he fired her/waited until her contract was up - whatever. And then, hired his cousin or sister or something to handle his stuff.
This has been brewing for quite a while and he has felt stifled because he wasn't allowed to discuss his passion.
