I updated from 5.5 to 6.0 to see if that would work.... Nothing.

Google and sometimes different pages are blocked.

Did you try suggestions from the last link I sent?

Here is one of the suggestions from that link
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];246725

Here is another suggestion from that link

Register the following system files
Click Start > Run
Type “regsvr32 softpub.dll” (w/o quotes)
Press OK
Repeat the above steps for the following:
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
regsvr32 initpki.dll
regsvr32 dssenh.dll
regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 sccbase.dll
regsvr32 slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll

Page two of that earlier link had a couple different suggestions for router settings (scroll down read replies)

I fear I may be looking at the dreaded F-disk.

Go to...

http://www.trendmicro.com

and engage their online scan (select the option to enable both antiviral and security scan combined).

I once had a PC that, unfortunately and horribly, had become infected with a worm after letting my antiviral program subscription lapse by only one day (I'll never allow that to happen again) and all my desktop efforts failed to show what the problem was...but trendmicro's Housecall Online (scan process) found it presto.

Unfortunatley, I had to chuck the harddrive after removing the thing, but I got a new system afterward so it worked out alright.

TrendMico will offer you software to purchase if it finds something, or you can go elsewhere, but probably would be best to try to let them straighten it out afterward.

But, reinstalling the OS (if there's no infection present) isn't such a deal. I now do that about twice/three times a year and it works out really well to have everything all fresh and functioning well.

Another thing, if you come up clean after that online scan, is to go download 'SPYBOT SEARCH & DESTROY" -- it's a free download and is great at keeping a lot of crud out of a PC, AND, it provides a lot of scanning for registry problems and program discrepanices and such...I highly recommend it.

Just go search the name but make sure you're at the official site (or CNET's downloads page) before you download it. Very simple to download, setup and deploy. It's a great bit of software by a smart guy in Germany who desrves all the donations anyone can offer him, for all that work he's done to enable all that good.

HERE... Spybot Search & Destroy But do that online scan before you do anything, to ensure you don't have some bug.

I already did do a trend micro scan for virus and adware.

Nothing popped up for me. I'm posting from another city right now, but later will try the other stuff you mentioned when I go home.

Thanks
