Last week, I had my PC worked.
The techs took all of my programs and put them in a back-up file on my C drive.
My printer/scanner is sitting in that back-up file.
How do I get it out of C drive and re-install it on my PC? I've tried messing with it and can't seem to make it work.
I have a Compaq Presario and the printer/scanner is a Lexmark X1150.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
What type of backup file?
I take it that what you want is the driver. Co to the Lexmark website and I'll be you can download one for your printer/op system. Probably a later version, so that's even better.
you running Windows?
Ping. SOS for computer problem.
ufsrestore -i $FILE
tar -xvfp $FILE
dd if=$FILE of=/dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0

Heehee...
You know what file it is that you need?
When you try installing your software, disconnect your computer from the internet, turn off your anti virus and any spyware/adware programs along with any other programs that are running and try that. There was a similiar problem last week with installation and it turned out to be Norton anti-virus and some other program I've listed here. Whenever you install any program you should always shut down all programs in use. That's why I say disconnect from the internet.
Must be a pretty big file if they squeezed your printer/scanner into it.
They right screwed you, mate. Make them come back and put in the same condition it was in before they "backed it up". Then buy a good backup program (Ghost is good) and use it regularly ON A DIFFERENT DRIVE.
