"The best music to come out of the 80's was Stevie Ray Vaughn."

Stevie Ray Vaughn is dead, and we can't get Jon Bon Jovi onto a helicopter.

Me too!!! Only I was a teenager in the 80's. They were great last year and so were the Scorps.

Saw Dokken with Poison in 2000, and I saw the Scorps with Motley Crue in 1999. Both good shows.

A couple other gems from Dennis Leary:

We live in a country, where John Lennon takes six bullets in the chest, Yoko Ono was standing right next to him and not one f'ing bullet! Explain that to me!

Heavy Metal bands on trial because kids commit suicide? What's that about? Judas Priest on trial because "my kid bought the record, and listened to the lyrics, ....." Well that's great! That sets a legal precedent. Does that mean I can sue Dan Folgerburg for making me into a p*ssy in the mid-70's. Is that possible, huh? Huh?! "Your honor, between him and James Taylor, I didn't get a b--w j-b 'till I was 27 years old. I was in Colorado wearing hiking boots eating granola. I want some f'ing money right now!"

We need a two and a half hour movie about the Doors? Folks, no we don't. I can sum it up for you in five seconds, ok. "I'm drunk. I'm nobody. I'm drunk. I'm famous. I'm drunk. I'm f'ing dead." There's the whole movie, ok!? Big fat dead guy in a bath tub, there's your title for you.

Actually I had to rethink my age. I turned 20 in 84. I would love to see Scorps again if they come to NEPA. I remember in 1985 we waited in line at Tower Records in NYC to meet them. Rudy liked my shirt, I should have taken it off and given it to him but it was my sisters!

I like that! There's probably a few more I'd like to get on a helicopter, but the list is lengthy.

Ashlee Simpson
Bono
Bob Geldof
John Mellencamp
The Backstreet Boys
Eddie Vedder

Britney gets a pass...at least she's a Republican. She contributes one vote per election for us so at least she does that.

Best band of the 1980s (well, if the late 1970s are included as well): Echo & the Bunnymen.

Nothing wrong with a little hair metal

I totally agree, despite my smart-ass post from earlier. I was a child of the 80s and saw Metallica, Dokken, Scorpions, and Van Halen in concert. I won't even mention what my hair looked like back then.

Echo & the Bunnymen.

Didn't they cover "People Are Strange" from the "Lost Boys" soundtrack?

I saw Skid Row back in '89 when they opened for Bon Jovi (yeech). Got to meet Sebastian backstage too. Nice guy.

Wouldn't go that far, although I have "Lips Like Sugar" on my MP3 right now.

Not a bad tune, though a bit "sugary." Ba-dump bump.

For my money, they did their best work on Heaven Up Here, though Porcupine and Crocodiles are strong as well. Ocean Rain is a very atmospheric album. After OR, they suffered a tremendous drop-off.
