This is not so new. Johns Hopkins has had an extremely high-fat diet out for at least 10 years or so that was specifically developed for autism. IIRC, although it was very controversial, it has had astonishing results, allowing autistic kids to lead more normal lives.

I am on a high-fat, low-acid diet for weight loss, and it has worked fine for me. No fake fats, no "off" flavors, and I feel great.
