You might consider this...if you're "officially" restricted, NM allows and actually hosts "handicapped" hunts where you can actually rifle hunt during the rut. They'll go so far as to assign a game and fish troop to find and put you on an elk, even do the shot if you're not comfortable with it.

It's a good program.

Thanks for the info. But in my case I no longer own firearms.
Took up fly fishing, but ha ha , there goes those eyes again.
