THE BEST AND WORST OF THE 1980s (vanity)
Pissant/SSCPOW Research Center | 6/6/05 | SilentServiceCPOWife & Pissant

Posted on 06/06/2005 10:03:49 AM PDT by pissant

After receiving numerous complaints that the 1970s sucked and were not worthy of a vanity thread, here at the Pissant/CPOWife Research Center we've decided to select a decade that had more worthwhile activities to ponder. Though many positive events developed during the 1980s, there were plenty of stink-bombs as well. To further our research, we encourage everyone to participate in this scientific survey.

Without further ado, the Best and Worst of the 1980s:

Phoebe Cates - I never saw the attraction.

You know she's married to Kevin Kline - since 1989.
That qualified as a Golden Anniversary by Hollywood Standards.

ZZ Top was the only hair band I liked. And it was on their chins. Unless you count the Bangles as a hair band

Best: We got cable TV and Friday Night Videos.

Hey! I thought yunz was an Old Fart!

You're only as old as you feel, and I embraced my inner geezer long ago.

I still have my Bass Weejuns and am patiently waiting for them to come back into style. I loved those shoes. And, U2 was an awesome band for their first 3 albums. Songs like Gloria, I will follow, Two hearts beat as one, etc. were all great music, the band died shortly thereafter.

When I saw Phoebe in "Fast Times..." I coudn't believe any female on earth could be hotter.

She made my liver quiver.

Just as an exercise in self-abuse, I downloaded the "Howard The Duck" theme song for a listen last night, as I vaguely recalled it was half-decent pop music (authored by Thomas Dolby).

It wasn't.
