And, I might add, comp time is worthwhile compensation.... If self employed dude takes time off his work day, he doesn't make anything. That may be the case, I don't know, why Steve was adjusting for him.
If this is resolved, let it go.... Lots of us do and have worked jobs with overtime required on projects where we got nothing for it. It's part of life, especially as he moves up. I'd really recommend understanding and flexibility. It won't stop the overtime, but it will keep you on the same side as Steve, instead of putting this between you.
I'm getting comp time for that Saturday I have to work...but it's worked out with my supervisor and there isn't anything written.

That may well be the case, but the dude isn't obligated, he chose to volunteer, Steve didn't. I find it rather imposing for him to come in and even request Steve change the times. Steve kindly changed the times without considering the time he was taking away from his family that he didn't HAVE to. I understand having to do some of these things, Creek Cleanup for example...but in this case, he didn't have to.
