When she says you need more dirt, is she talking depth? I only have about 8" above ground, but I dug into the ground beneath the raised bed a couple inches to loosen it up.

Or is she talking more area? You can grow an awful lot in a small area. I'd recommend that Mel Bartholomew book that 2J and Sq turned me on to. Has planting schedules and everything.

She means I didn't plant stuff deep enough. I've got some room to add some dirt around them.

I've got the book. I need to read it again and look at planting schedules. I was late actually getting the beds set up.

I'm learning though. I'm ahead of last year.

And my daylilies have been awesome. I'm already thinking of places to plant stuff out front.
