The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Reminds me of the guy on he deck crew that we used to call Joe Bagodonuts.
I have no idea what his real name was.

"Have really fooped up my pooter. Stuck with da bberry. Please tell all in the hole that I wish I was there. Tell Ruthy and Sam that they should run for the hills. :-)"

Heh... Must have very small fingers!
The thread's pretty dead anyhow eh?
We're watching about trucks that drive across frozen lakes to bring supplies to way north Arctic villages. You can hear the ice cracking. Some of them fall in ;~\

Well, we are looking good in Miami with this one, tho it's a little breezy tonight, some gusts in the 50's and rainy, maybe a small tornado or so.
I am concerned that hurricanes are starting a month early, that seems kind of ominous. First one out of the box, cat 4!

Frank Winters used to be the Packers' center... Brett Favre gave him the nickname "Frankie Bagodonuts", because he liked donuts so much.

That is one of the best things of a good storm. It cools everything downNot here. It usually gets hotter here after a rainstorm, at least in summer. The humidity goes up so much that its just oppressive.

Just wanted to let you know... I was thinking of the possibility of flying from Austin to Chicago over Labor Day, in order to shorten the drive from here to the U.P. (we would drive north from Chicago) but your discussion of airport security shenanigans has helped remind me of why we vowed never to fly again.
Thanks! ;)

In the summertime, Miami is the coolest city in mainland Florida, regardless of storms. But yes, the afternoon thunderstorms cool things down a little. All that cold air in the downbursts for one thing, not to mention the cold rain. Standing out in a thunderstorm can be surprisingly chilly.
