Legal Nevada brothels probably aren't that far off from what you describe, so I don't understand the condescension. Life for the prostitutes is certainly much safer in the legal brothels than "on the street", since there are legitimate security forces who will see that anyone who assaults prostitutes will be prosecuted.

I wasn't being condescending. Sorry if I came off that way. I was amused by the thought of prostitution as a regular business. Prostitution is something that I just don't understand. Why would anyone pay someone else for sex? What's the point of it? And why would anyone disrepect herself so much that she would give herself to some total stranger, for money?
