FYI..I saw the episode, and admittedly, late on Sunday, after a long weekend, and not focusing real hard, I felt the character portrayal was sincere and honest, sympathetic.. and not demeaning of her belief in Orthodox Judaism. She's a teenager, and as a rule, they are NOT rocket scientists..but in what came across very strongly, IMHO, was her contentment at finding something that gave her comfort ..her faith, when compared to the vapid existence of her parents..She was far more mature, and grounded, than they were. The show is basically entertainment..you can't, dare I say it, "preach" too hard..or you end up with NO audience..
Lol! I don't watch any TV except for EWTN and the Food Network. I used to be a news junkie, switching back and forth between Fox News, MSNBC, CNN and local networks. Each night, I found myself screaming at the TV news anchors in utter frustration over their coverage of various stories. I gave it up for Lent two years ago and never went back. All the news I need to read is right here on FR. Thanks, Alouette, for posting this thread!
