*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

We are going to breed her to our stallion if we can get her to come in. I think she'll have to have a shot but we need to have her vet checked to make sure she's okay first.

I was able to get her registered. Fortunately, I had all of the paperwork, breeding certificate, etc. All that has to be done now is have her DNA'd.

No wonder they had not stated a cause on the horse barn fire. It was suspicious.

Oh - that's extra tragic. I hope for that person's early death. Watch your barn!

This sounds very suspicious. I hope they find out who set these fires and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.

I wondered at the time of the horse barn fire - it sounded very strange at the time.

Oh, I gave the rest weeks ago. I got it overnight. I just can't buy the W nile or rabies. They were really fast. It's my vet that has drag a$$. I figure I got the tetnus and PCN free but how come I didn't get a free sharps container?

I would study my son's math before hand. Math with letters and diagraming sentences and grammar rules. Hated those:')

I didn't get the sharps box free but they are really cheap. The small one was 3 dollars or so and the big one was 6 or 7 dollars.

I just got a huge load of coastal square bales. I tell ya, it's so dry here that hay has gotten hard to find. I got an old man the day after he baled his hay and it was delivered yesterday, 240 beautiful bales.

He would really let me have it, wouldn't he? I'm noticing lots of people getting banned lately and some of them have been old timers. Maybe they are purging the membership.

How could someone do something like that? Well, I hope they catch them soon. At least the owners can stop beating themselves up now. It must be really hard on them.

It was kind of funny. UPS delivered. I live in a subdivision and when the guy handed it to me I remarked"oh, good. My horse's medicine". He kind of looked at my yard. He laughed when I told him they were stabled and said something like "you never know".

LOL That's hilarious because I used to keep my first horse in my backyard! It was a huge backyard and she was in the back half but it was still a regular neighborhood. We were on the last block 'til you got to the lake area so I had to ride on the street for about a half block. Nobody cared, that's for sure. There are so many complainers nowadays, not sure if I could get away with that today.

Math was the one subject that I worried about when we first started homeschooling. I can't add 1+1 without fingers and toes:)

A great thing about the ACE program for Algebra is, they have a video that goes along with the Paces' if you run into problems. We used it and it helped tremendously.

I have Blake today. We just got back from town. I took him to some bike trails, (wish I had remembered the camera). We have a pedestrin bridge across the River, and we like to ride across it and throw rocks off it:). Now we are having lunch and cooling off. Not sure what we will do with the rest of the day, it's going to be scorching. Have to find something to do in the house.

Great pictures Duchess! Looks like everybody had a good time at both the show and the ride. Thanks!

Have him draw some pictures of your bike ride and what you saw. Then you can take pictures of them and post them. We'll see the ride through his eyes :) and it will give him something to do while it's hot.

Sorry about your heat.

It's actually been raining here since last night. I think it's wonderful. Last year, we didn't get any rain at all from mid June to Sept and the pasture was dust. At this rate, it may survive through July.

We found Bay in a back yard, he'd been living there for three years, finding shelter on the back porch and joining in all the barbecues. ;~D

I know what you mean about it being scorching. It was awful here this weekend. My regular riding buddy had to work and I started to ride Bluebell by myself, but I just couldn't make myself get out in that heat. It was miserable. You amaze me at having the determination to ride more than one horse several times a week like you do. My hat's off to ya!

Boy, I'd like to see some rain come thru. We haven't had any in forever. It's feast or famine.
