*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Heh... today was a nice ride, ended up being quite sunny and warm.... it's 70 here, when they had predicted cool and rain. Heh... what do they know?

This was a real different kind of area, we don't have a lot of native grasslands like this, it's pretty... It was a ride that was typical Tiffney, in that there was often no trail, but where there wasn't trail, there was belly high grass. :~D

And flowers ;~D

Tiff's son Jesse goofin off ;~D That QH mare of Tiff's is a treasure.

ecurbh makin' faces.... actually, ecurbh was trying very hard to be a good sport. He was in almost unbreathable allergy sinus attack the whole time. Now he's conked out on Benedryl on the couch.

Jesse off exploring ;~D

This is the Skookumchuck River... we crossed it twice, going out and coming back in.

And here's Tiff on her other great horse, Mia. A cigarette, a beer, and a smile :~D

Where you riding in the arena? Boy, it sure sounds like something is bothering him. Even with it hot and humid, he should show some enthusiasm, I would think.

Very nice. I am glad you had a good ride, with no incidents. Pretty day too, good riding temperatures. Poor ecurbh, those flowers and pollen didn't help his sinus. Speaking of being on the couch, who's bear skin is that on a former picture you posted? I was going to ask you before, but forgot about it.

I used to drink beer on the trail, but had to make too many pit stops on the way...lol

My dad shot this black bear in Arizona, before I was born.

This is the old pic of ecurbh under it, but it looks remarkably like the current scene here :~D

That bear skin is cool. Congrats to you Dad. That must have been quite a thrill. Now, I see where you get your hunting knowledge from.

Poor ecurbh...but what a trooper. That picture of Cyn's head as she is going in the water is really nice. Beautiful horse.

I like this bear, I grew up with it. :~D I heard lots of hunting stories growing up, but I'd never have a bear on the wall unless someone else shot it. I'm too much of a softy to raise a gun to something unless it's actually trying to kill me ;~D

Me too..MAN or beast.
Killing little orange disc is one thing, but I could never hunt.

Speaking of killing, its time to go do some "fraging"...have a good evening.

She rides with beer in her stirrup leathers? Am I seeing that and if it is, how does she cue her horse?

She does look like she's having a great time.

No, she doesn't have beer down there, but if there was a way to, she would :~D

I think it's just her stirrup buckles you see.

Those two horses just sortof 'go' anyhow, they put up with a lot with those two, and they're great. She has them barefoot, she's been trying to condition and trim their feet to adjust to being barefoot for about a year... and they were awfully ouchy on gravelly or rocky places still. Cyn was fine.

Yeah we were in the arena. I don't know what to think about that horse. I'm going to try again tomorrow. In the past he has always done better the second day after a break.

Hair, your ride looks like fun. Jenny use to ride Rocky like Tiff's son is doing on that horse. I use to tell her she was going to get dumped some day doing stuff like that. Now a days, probably because of my age:), I'd have been as nervous as a whore in church watching that kid....

The country looks pretty. So where you going tomorrow?

Becky

Any other kid, me too.... I'm sortof immune to the antics of Tiff and Jesse, becuase they seem to be charmed... they get away with stuff... they may fall off, but they bounce. They're not operating under the same limitations or rules the rest of us are :~D

I took a few pictures of Rusty today. I had groomed him up pretty good. Been awhile since I did that. He has such a pretty mane and tail. The pictures aren't th best. Too much shadow.

The black in his mane doesn't get sunbleached? Bay's does.

He looks good. And tomorrow he'll probably even act good :~D

I've never really paid attention that his mane doesn't bleach....what does Bay's look like when it bleaches?

His lightens... gets a lot of red in it. It's stops being shiny. He has a crummy mane though, thin and scraggly, not like Cyn's.
