This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Oh my gosh, sorry to hear about your fall. My head is still sore from that tree falling on me. We do have days like that. I will keep your dad in my prayers.
Good morning everyone! It's Friday! : D
Good Morning, If I did all that rubbing on a horse, I would need a massage after that! Very nice explanation and pictures. About how long did it take you to go thru the procedure?
The more I do it the faster I'm getting:) It takes about 15-20 minutes. We were told you don't have to do each step for very long. Just enough to stimulate circulation. ex. on the back you just make two lines of circular motions with your fingers on each side. On the leg stretches, you only hold the leg out for 5-10 seconds. She said it doesn't take much. When stretching the neck in the first pictures, you just go each way once.
Becky
Holy cow, you did have a bad day! How's your dad this morning?
I HATE it when I hurt myself.
Hoof trims again this week-end, here. LOL....wish we had the $$$$ to send hubby to farrier school. Then, hoof trims wouldn't take almost ALL day and a 6-pack!
Our weather has been a bit nippy since Tues. AAAHHH, such a nice break from hot/humid/miserable.
Does the last horse come out a little crooked? ;~D
Great pics, Becky! I'm going to try that on George today.
Sorry about your bad day.... sounds like it qualifies.
Prayers for your Dad.
Good morning!
Mornin', Hair.
I've decided to stay off the breastfeeding threads for awhile. The level of stupidity some of those people exhibit makes me afraid to drive a car. Just think, we are driving on the same highways, going 70 miles an hour, with people who have the sense of a box of rocks. *shudder*
LOL - There's many subjects I've given up on, but I always end up going back ;~D
Well, I give Belle her shot today to bring her in season. Mon. at 4 I run her to the vet to be cultured, if it's clear we'll bred her on Tues, Thurs.
Becky
LOL! We have yet to get a new farrier here, they are like gold dust and Sugar is desperate to have her hoofs trimmed.
Weather..........nippy? I would love that right now, anything past 9am and it's too hot to work outside. It was 98 yesterday with humidity in the 80% range. Today it should only get to 94 and humidity 77%.
That reminds me, anyone want any squash? I have it coming out of my ears! The kids planted loads, as we expected, if not Mama, but Daddy to still be here and it is his fav. Well our garden is going crazy, we are picking 9 a day! :D
Thank goodness the kids love it!~ LOL
Exciting! : D Hope everything goes well!
I'm a glutton for punishment so I'll probably go back but I'm going to try to stay away today. There are a couple of extremely bitter women on there, maybe they are unable to have children and this is their way of dealing with it.
Did you tell me your daughter is interested in barrel racing?
For the sake of discussion here:), not to at all appear like I'm giving the gospel on barrel racing or that I know it all, I thought I might take some pictures of me or my daughter doing the pattern and explaining what we were taught about what should be happening at each step. There were alot of things about it I didn't know.
Becky
Ah good.... Do you find you need to give the shot to get her in season, or do you just not want to wait till the next time she'd come around?
I sure hope she's clear in the culture.
We're going riding this afternoon, if this rain we had overnight has stopped. My friend Lisa is going to bike along with us.
Thanks, I do too. After seeing how good Dot did at that clinic, I want one just like her:)
Becky
I used to live in a neighborhood years ago and my next door neighbor had peach trees. One year she had a bumper crop and suddenly, bags of peaches started appearing on my front porch. Couldn't walk past her house without her running out with a bag of peaches. It was fun.
