This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Hahaha I saw it, but I forgot about it. Oh well.
She's very special to me. My husband says we both have the same peronality. We have an understanding though that if she ever tries to buck me off like she did when I first got her that I will rip her beautiful neck off.
If she's good the rest of the year then I'll rent her a "honey":')
Hahaha LOL!! I sure hope that never happens! I am sure she will be good LOL

Good morning!
"My riding instructor in California has a barn made out of cement. It seems to work real well."
That's what they need to be made of in tornado alley. I wonder how much they would cost to make?
Cement block buildings are not ~too~ much... I like seeing English barns that are brick or block.... at least on the bottom half.
You know what's really pretty? Those old rock barns. Wouldn't that be fun to have? I bet they are cool inside during the summer.
Like round river rocks?
Blocks good. A concrete building would be expensive and hard to pour though. I would think it would sweat down here too. I was just laying in bed this morning thinking about hurricane ties though. I want concrete runners but Eddie wants to set poles in concrete. Either way will work I guess but I think I would let mine out in a storm and let them use the house for a windbreaker.
Yes, have you ever seen those?
Girls, I'd like to introduce you to "conchav". She's a good friend of mine and works in a large and small animal vet clinic. She's a wealth of information and also rides. No horses currently but I think she rides with a friend of hers.
Aw, I can't take credit for that one. I just found it and thought it was pretty cute.
The poles that hold up the awnings on my barn are set in concrete and the stalls are on concrete runners. The barn aisle is also concrete. Shoers love working on concrete!
He's baaaack....
Welcome Conchav!
Hello! :) I don't currently have any horses of my own, but have worked in a mixed practice clinic for the last 11 years. I do ride with a friend who is "horsewoman delux" We are "natural riders" no formal training, just have a natural ability and way with the critters!
I can't imagine letting them out during a 'storm'.
Oh, you're a lot of help. Are you back in town?
