David Beckham has hinted that he may be prepared to play in the United States before he ends his career as signs of his growing popularity in that part of the world were evident ahead of England's friendly international with Colombia.
Beckham was greeted with the kind of media frenzy and flashing light bulbs that have probably not greeted a soccer player in America since the days of Pele, George Best and Franz Beckenbauer in the mid 1970s as he gave his pre-match press conference.
In the immediate term the 30-year-old sees his playing career at Real Madrid and he is prepared to hold talks over a new deal - he has two years left of his current contract - in the summer.
But Beckham, who is launching his soccer academy in Los Angeles later this week, did not rule out the possibility of a spell in the States before he hangs up his boots.

Soccer is a great sport, nothing wussie about it, you run a game for 90 minutes.
As for Beckham, I don't want him, MLS is a serious league, not a sideshow.

Chivas was the exception I think. The Mexican team Chivas (Gaudalajara) openly brags that it has never had an international on its team. So the expansion clubs went out of their way think that they would attract the illegal alien crowd by getting people with Spanish last names - its all overt racism and they should be sued.

Well, all things are relative. I've enjoyed MLS games here in DC and I think the fans are pretty into it.

I like the Nationals, but it kind of sucks for DC United to have to share a stadium with them. It would be nice to see them get a stadium of their own.

Summers in Arlington is popular for MLS and World Cup games.
Oh and BTW - Chivas has the worst record in the league due to their rascist policies. I read an article on why they are in last place and it totally avoid the obvious - because they failed to scout for the best players and just signed the ones with the Spanish last names.
