Okay, ir took me too long to post the lyrics, I didn't see the other disqualifications. The cruddy TV show WAS from the 70's, so we can at least leave Goldsboro as dreck!

I had to listen to a country station as well. I swear, if I had to listen to "The Happiest Girl" by Donna Fargo one more time...

"One Tin Soldier."

Song was called "OHIO" by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.

Didn't you think the bully kid had a lot of nerve to show up at the Brady house to borrow Cindy's tongue-twister book???? I mean, geez, go to the library....

I'm blocking "she's having my baby" from my mind. It's too damaging.

"Honey" was 1968 and therefore disqualified....however, "Watching Scotty Grow" was 1970 and just as vapid.....

Right after Burt Reynolds did his layout for Cosmopolitan, he was on Johnny Carson. Carson says he'd seen the layout and, making the gesture of pulling out the centerfold, said something to the effect; "Burt's layout and Watching Scotty Grow." I'll never forget it. The laughter lasted forever.

Remember the high water pants trimmed in tartan they wore? SO cool! (Not). And their tennis shoes just completed their "great" look. (Not).

I haven't gotten through the thread yet, but does anyone remember all those stupid teenybop magazines like "Tiger Beat" and "16" which always featured either The Osmonds, The Jackson 5, The DeFrancos, The Partridge Family (mainly Keith), and the Bay City Rollers? I read them religiously when I was about 12.

You kiddin'? My mom had a Kitty Wells collection she wore out on the record player...not to mention Jeannie C. Riley's "Harper Valley PTA" album. That one got ground into my cerebral cortex by the time I was seven.

Elton John had great music up til he came out of the closet. His career has been mired in dung ever since!

"One tin soldier rides away"

and

"Four dead in Ohio"

were two different songs....though similar.
