Speaking of The Rockford Files,
the 70s had this bizarre phenomenon of TV show theme songs becoming radio hits and blaring incessently from top-40 stations.
Really weird. The Rockford files was the first, I believe, but it was followed by Welcome Back Kotter and Laverne and Shirley, among others.
Man, it was annoying.
