I don't feel quite the same about him now. He was one of my favorite Muppets, but knowing he was a carrion-eater just ruins it for me. ;-) Awwww, c'mon, he has that cute, scratchy voice and those soulful eyes ...

The best characters on that show have got to be Statler and Waldorf!!

I have to admit that I had no idea what you were talking about and I had to do a Google search to find out.

I hated what was on the radio in the 1970s (at least early/mid) and in background of tv and movies (at least that I saw/heard as a kid).
Brownsville Station had a few songs I liked as a kid but only decades later did I learn that Cub Koda was a big Link Wray, Andre Williams, and Chuck Berry fan. I could have gotten a 12 year head start on my record collection if I had been exposed to the "good stuff" much earlier.

I was just prompting for some sort of a "who'd dave?" response...

It's Cheech & Chong. Only funny when
a) You're stoned, or,
b) You're 12.

It's not a 70's movie, I know, but did you see "The Best in Show", the spoof of dog shows? He plays himself, but it is truly the best Joe Garagiola impersonation, the stuff he says and the way he says it are JUST like ol' Joe used to do on the AKC-Westminster broadcast!

Was Smokin in the Boys Room their only hit?

I think so. The main one I heard on radio in Louisiana in the mid 70s was Martian Boogie.

Only 620 posts to go...
There are still some things we haven't discussed that so encapsulate what was bad about the 1970s.
Sgt. Pepper's The Movie, for example. Got your Bee Gees, your bad film making...
