Which proves that even though hollywood is out of new ideas, the public is still eager to devour rehashes of old ideas.
Wow! There are actually 3 movies out that I want to see.
Star Wars, The Longest Yard, and Madagascar.
I was SO disapointed with Hitchhikers Guide. I've got a feeling that I'm going to be disapointed with TLY too. I'm just not a fan of Adam Sandler.

Looks like Hanoi Jane's got the kiss of death. The movie will be out of the theaters in two weeks.
The weekend will tell if it has legs. Doubt if it wil beat TROTS.
The original was done on the cheap, but still not bad. I'll wait for DVD of this one.

Sith also set the standard for single-day total, with its $50 million opening-day haul beating Shrek 2's previous mark of $44.8 million.

So is it $50 million or $15.5 million?????
I'm betting that Lucas somehow juiced the opening night numbers on Star Wars so that it would beat the record, and is now making up for the gap.
Good for him "sandler" showed up the critics!
I liked Longest yard...once you get passed the insane casting of Sandler as any kind of jock
What is Madagascar about?

I wouldn't make too much of this. I plan to see Star Wars again, but want to give it a week. I think many people are in the same boat.
Well, the one person I know who saw Star Wars 3 said it was slow, basically a stinker.
I think everyone who needed to see Star Wars already did.
oh well.
I'll be surprised if that holds true over the weekend.
I suspect Longest Yard will not win the weekend. Saturday and Sunday will skew towards Star Wars and Madagascar, as these movies included younger people in their target market, and are both more likely to have repeat viewers.
