Word For The Day, Friday, May 27, 2005
Friday, May 27, 2005 | Argh

Posted on 05/26/2005 11:01:33 PM PDT by Argh

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of four "Words for the Day".

1. keck (the word is onomatopoeic)

to retch, make the sound of retching, or to feel disgust

2. quiddle (from Middle Latin quidditas, what, anything)

Verb: to dawdle or trifle;

Noun: a fussy or fastidious person, or one who wastes energy about trifles

3. Weekly word that can only be found at the online International House of Logorrhea. I can't find it in my dictionaries at home:

quaedam:

a disparaging term for "woman"

4. Friday word: karezza

(appears to be a Tantra Yoga term: pronounced kaRETSsah)

prolonged coitus in which the Big O is deliberately withheld, i.e. coitus reservatus (To see more about this term, go here.)

Example sentence:
Are you kidding, I’m in enough trouble as it is.

Rules: Everyone must leave a post using one or more of the Words for the Day in one or more sentences.
The sentences must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

You had quite the night, didn't you? Did the poor little girl make it home without being sick?

Since patton's descriptions of FC seem to get more and more expansive, it is assuming almost mythical proportions-kind of like an urban myth...

You're right. It's time to call on our dear friend, Mr. Snopes. ;)

That is a great idea-then we can get to the truth of the matter.

Since it looks like it will be a nice day, I might actually be able to finish the yard cutting that the rain interrupted.

Are we going to have class, or we excused today? If we are having class, I'll have to get there later this morning-I have to go and do an estimate a few miles from here at 7:30-the customer works 2nd shift and is really hard to catch at home, but she is off today...

I'm terrible, hopefully the hospital will have answers soon. If Howard had a voodoo doll he'd likely have sex with it.

In your previous post about the disappointing "Madagascar" I was going to suggest "The Incredibles" as an alternate. In that one, although a villian plots world domination, the kids in the Incredible's family can only think of one peril--Mom and Dad have marriage problems. (Tell me you've seen this and that I am not just monologuing.) BTW although capes hide those post forty bulges, I have dispensed with mine for safety reasons...

I did not make it to the beach. I (miraculously) slept late- although it could have been the combination of anti-anxiety meds and beer. I awoke to 70% chance of rain. The only productive thing I did today was grocery shop. Dilbert had to work. Worse, others vacations mean that he has to show up for work at 2AM instead of 4AM tomorrow. And he will skip choir to videotape a wedding rehearsal for friends. This Sunday we will sing Beck's "Offertory" (from Micah). Shall I give Him my first born for my transgression? The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul..."

Speaking of fruit...I have "Jerk Chicken" in the oven for the "Will put my pants on for Food-Boy". He received his FCAT's- he scored at the 10th grade level in English and (like all the children at Lake Woebegone) above average in Math. He is so ready for ninth grade-in the magnet program of his choice.

I watched "The Sum of all Fears" today for the first time. Lame @ss. I am glad I did not see it after 9/11 or I would have thrown things at the movie screen (as I was tempted to do at the latest Star Wars film.) Oh, yes, the "right wing facists" are our enemy...

I have a friend who is a nurse in Falls Church. Whenever I hear of awful things happening up there, I hope that you run into Maggie.

I am trying to imagine the situation where I hand my children over to a non-family member and make myself unavailable for hours...My daughter arranged for her brothers to have access to cable TV and endless sodas in return for watering her plant and feeding the Beta fish (DOA) this weekend. Somehow, I feel that I've raised her right. She will have custody of our dog- Willie Bubba- when we go on vacation in two weeks. DOA has gained weight while they've been gone.

Finally, I want to know...what has happened to Secret Garden? Has anyone checked the basement for pods?

which hospital? Are you perchance-single? I do not hook up my single friends with ineligibles...Maggie is a caring nurse (alto) with an allergy to cologne...slim and curly haired with a great wry sense of humor...

Married 18 years, three kids, and an obnoxious dog. But my daughter was born in Fairfax Hospital, and Arlington Hospital - has a coffee mug with my name on it. LOL.

we have the Incredibles on dvd and it IS lightyears better than Madagascar, which is pointless, IMO.

and SG purged her comp which means the password to her FR account which was stored on the comp was lost for all time. Despite efforts to contact TPTB, she can't seem to get that info outof anyone so is now relegated to #2 status, as SG2.

Robert, there should be some law that allows one to shoot engineers, just because.
