Wolf Covered Bridge in Knox County, IL

The old bridge

The rebuilt bridge

"The Wolf Covered Bridge was built in the 1840s. Originally, it just had a wooden deck. The cover was added in 1874. The structure was 234 feet in length and had a span of 102 feet. It was 11 feet wide, leaving room for just one lane of traffic.

"On Aug. 1, 1994, the bridge was destroyed by fire.

"The new bridge was completed in September 1999 and a grand opening ceremony was held on Sept. 25."

More about the bridge found here.

Good morning FReeper FRiends..... LOVE covered bridges.. and no matter what the topic, it seems there is a movie that I recall.. Bridges of Madison County.. Rotten Tomatoes Link I really liked that movie...

We have quite a few here in NE Ohio,(bridges, not movies..well,no we have lots of movies too.. oh, groan,) especially Ashtabula County, which is known for wine/wineries & covered bridges. I need to get some sleep.. been up mucho hours.. but there is all sorts of noises inside & out that are a bit of a deterrent.. I hate to take wine to take the edge off but might do so... sleep normally eludes me in high pressure systems anyway.
