Remember that in "The Empire Strikes Back," the emperor tells Vader "There is a new threat. Luke Skywalker." And Vader says he felt it as well. Then the Emperor says "The son of Skywalker cannot be allowed to become a Jedi."
ESB actually vader was looking for skywalker by name from the beginning, when the probe reported on the hoth system.
