When you've just had a baby, your belly doesn't just go flat right away. Some women still look "pregnant" days, even weeks after delivery. Depends on a lot of factors. Really! After carrying and birthing and breastfeeding six kids, I did not know that... I was thinking about Hollywood and the appearance that this would give to viewers, as did a previous poster. As I said in my previous post on the subject, the birth of the twins and the death of Padme were not believable, too aniseptic...

Well, medical science is considerably more advanced in the Star Wars universe than in ours, so presumably they have found a way to make childbirth easier.

Though strangely, in the case of both the Emperor and Darth Vader, they don't seem to have invented plastic surgery yet. ;)
