There are just some songs that are so good, that when heard on the car radio, they trigger an automatic reflex to pop open a frosty cold brew. I know it's illegal in most states, but the law be damned when RYS (Retrograde Youth Syndrome) is triggered by the the following songs:
10. Pride and Joy (Stevie Ray Vaughn)
9. Wild Night (Van Morrison)
8. Locomotive Breath (Tull)
7. White Room (Cream)
6. You Shook Me (AC/DC)
5. London Calling (clash)
4. Sultans of Swing (Dire Staights)
3. Honky Tonk Women (Stones)
2. Roadhouse Blues (Doors)
1. La Grange (ZZ Top)

I'm one of the few who'll listen to both Van Halen AND Van HagarMe, too. Sammy Hagar is a better singer than David Lee Roth, but David Lee Roth is the better showman.

What???? Beer Drinkers and Hellraisers is one of the best songs ever recorded.Okay, maybe I have enjoyed a couple of ZZ Top's tunes and maybe they don't really suck. :o) I guess I just have a bit of sensitivity when it comes to hellraising drunks. See Post 70

I didn't have time to read everything here, but I have to nominate 1 bourbon, 1 scotch, 1 beer by George Thorogood and the Delaward Destroyers. But in all fairness the list of great beer drinking songs is far too big to limit to just 10.

41..ah, POST-good-stuff, then!
I'm 52, and I vainly believe that I was born at the perfect time for music. I was young for pre-Elvis, Elvis, Turtles, Beatles--from "I Wanna' Hold Your Hand" through "Dr. Pepper" and on--The Doors, psychedelic music and hard rock (at which time I abandoned "current" music).
I remember songs that I can't even find any references to.
Does anyone remember a song--I believe by the Troggs--which had the lines:
"Your mama said you left about an hour ago.
Your sister said you went to San Francisco.
You think you've found a new world,
But don't you go, girl..
Don't you know girl?
Oh, Lord, have I lost you
To red, green, yellow and blue?"
:)
I guess all generations think that "their music" was the best--probably because of what the sounds trigger in one's memory--but I think I really was fortunate in the musical years of my youth. (I KNOW! I just proved what I claimed.)
