W was in da House today. A Beautiful day here in Michigan and so I decided to Run With The Flag, 2 - 3 miles to Calvin along the East Belt Line from Celebration Cinema. There must have been a hundred cars flashing there lights , honking horns, thumbs up, hand salutes, yelling encouragement all during the run.
On arriving to Stand in the Front Lines with the rest of the Presidents Supporters I went right through the Libs little outcropping, telling them not to be afraid, that they are Americans too and I served to protect their right to be IGNORANT AND STUPID, ... nah I maintained fire discipline. They did seem to tremble at the approach of the Red White and Blue - A Light Saber of Truth, cutting through the Sith. Then I crossed the road and started a preliminary harassment barrage with " Surrender is not a n Option!" and " Give Freedom a Chance".
It was pretty easy to tell the difference between the two groups, they had no American Flag and we did. We waved it like a Jedi cutting down droids. The Speech -
The President started the heart of his speech talking about a Frenchman, who is that for reaching out?
.... this young Frenchman said that the secret to America's success was our talent for bringing people together for the common good. De Tocqueville wrote that tyrants maintained their power by "isolating" their citizens -- and that Americans guaranteed their freedom by their remarkable ability to band together without any direction from government. The America he described offered the world something it had never seen before: a working model of a thriving democracy where opportunity was unbounded, where virtue was strong, and where citizens took responsibility for their neighbors.
The President finished nicely also.
....ultimately, service is up to you. It is your choice to make. As your generation takes its place in the world, all of you must make this decision: Will you be a spectator, or a citizen? To make a difference in this world, you must be involved.
Well, we are involved in Grand Rapids Mr. President. Tomorrow I'll be on the radio talking about the Presidents Visit. 640 am on your radio dial. Call in 616 464 0640 from 6 to 10 am and give your opinion. Pro or Con, your 1st Amendment Rights will be honored.
Oh, the run back to my car seemed longer but the Red White and Blue Light Saber of Freedom kept me going

THANKS, TomasUSMC.
Thank you SO very much for your support of W! I cut off my tithing to Calvin many years ago. Evidently, I did the right thing. You have been added to my "hero" list.

"I served to protect their right to be IGNORANT AND STUPID."
A beautiful line.
PBS had a piece on it this afternoon saying that a third of the Calvin faculty protested the visit. I must say that doesn't sound like the Calvin faculty that I know. I imagine they are exaggerating or lying.
If we can't protect unborn children in this country, we fail the the most important words in the constitution -- life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Without life, and with the massacre of the Unborn in this country, I think George Lucas sounds more like George Bush in his storyline for Star Wars III.
For life for Luke and Lea is important in this movie.
And what about the dastardly killing of the younglings -- is that not like Partial Birth Abortion or even what some of the modernist professors propose -- a two year warranty on babies. If babies are defective in the first two years, you can kill them. So some very prominent professors claim -- friends of the Clintons -- literally.
If the code of the Jedi is not to kill a defenseless opponent, then what of killing the defenseless life in the womb. Many of the Judeo-Christian heritage are unaware that Jewish tradition only allowed three things to be buried in a Jewish cemetary -- human corpses, the unborn that did not survive birth or were miscarried, and sacred writings (Torah).
Abortion is murder and the 5th Commandment.
That is why Exodus 21:22 is so important to the Constitution -- it translates into that if men that are fighting injure a pregnant woman but she gives birth to the child, the the fighting men shall be fined. But the subsequent passages specify that if either the mother or child is injured, then it is life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, bruise for bruise...
That is why Jesus never spoke of abortion -- it was covered by passages in the Torah or Old Testament.
However, it was necessary to tell Gentiles that these things were wrong.
There was a writing called the Didache that dates to the time of the Gospels. But this was incorporated into Church Teachings about the 4th Century. [It also forbade the infanticide]. But if the killing of younglings in Star War III is so horrible, then what of killing defenseless babies or the unborn in the womb -- with a beating heart and brain activity.
We must be Pro-Life if we are to be true Jedi and protect human life.
As far as I can see it's true; 1/3 of the faculty at Calvin signed the letter, as well as some administrators and 300 students (past and present). They were also able to raise enough money between them to take out a full-page ad in Friday's Grand Rapids Press, as well as a half-page ad in the Saturday edition to run their message.
Calvin's president was just on the Sunday evening newscast talking about how it's a good thing for the college, because it dispels the idea that it's a monolithic institution, and that there's a diversity of opinion on campus. From what he was saying, apparently being a haven for conservatism hurts the college's marketability.
