I guess the test didn't take into consideration that our repressed nastiness gives us a rich fantasy life!

Don't worry, TC, I'm a nice guy even when I'm being naughty.

Or as Pissant would say, especially when I'm being naughty.

The test didn't ask about any of my bad points. I guess the writers just weren't very imaginative :-).

They got me on the "scandalous" co-worker. Personally, I wouldn't care if the person had tried to stab me in the back or was my best friend; if they are screwing with my employer, they are messing with my paycheck (although now I'm the boss of a not-for-profit and nobody messes with the money, including me!). I would definitely blow the whistle. Did it before, even though it cost me my job, and would do it again cause it's the right thing to do.

That's interesting. I figured that "scandalous" meant something unrelated to the job.

That's the way I read it, too.

I won't let myself be petty just because someone else is.

I ended up taking many of the tests there.

Pretty well-adjusted overall, but a little quirky.

Just a little bit - but I never claimed to be nice.

Guess I read it wrong, or too fast. I though it was a work-related bit of news.

If it was something personal and not related to work, then I wouldn't report it because it's none of my business. If it was work related then I would report it, even if the person was a friend.

Depending on what it was, (drug use, etc., that might impact the job), I would probably approach the co-worker (yes, even if they tried to stab me in the back) to let them know that folks are talking. That's the insidious nature of work-place gossip; if the staff is hearing it, then the bosses will hear it sooner or later. If true, then that person can lower their profile by watching their mouths; if it's a lie, they can squash it or refute it.

Good summary, and I agree. Something that affected the job, I would report no matter what relationship I had with the other person.
